Small setback

We had a setback yesterday with the breathing. Cole's breathing is doing really well, and they were able to move him to the nasal breathing tube. However his nose is so small that the tubes were causing him nasal congestion, making it harder to breathe. So they re-intubated him with the tube down the throat. It's dissapointing to see him with the tube back in but he continues to progress nicely.

He has a mouth!

We left the Ramezani's new years eve party at 11:30pm to ring in the new year with Cole. The nurses passed out sparkling cider to all the parents. It ranks as our most mellow and yet the most satisfying new years.

This morning they removed the breathing tube he's had since birth. He now has a nasal tube that gives a constant light pressure of oxygen, but he's breathing on his own. This was the first time we'd seen his mouth, and with the tube removed he can make small crying noises. Although the current nasal tube makes him look like a rhino. He's 2lbs 10oz.
